Founded at the feet of the majestic Wasatch Mountains in Utah Valley, Saltus Architecture + Urban Design is a team of architects, planners, and designers in pursuit of creating a better world by crafting spaces that are responsive to the natural environment and to the people that will inhabit them.
We believe in an enthusiastic and optimistic design approach, which fosters a collaborative design process between the client and the design team. This team-oriented and unique experience results in a more successful and enduring project.
Saltus was founded by Aaron Inouye and Jeff Knighton based on the foundational principle of providing excellent client service. As owners and principals, both Jeff and Aaron remain hands-on and actively engaged in every project to ensure that the Client experiences the high level of care that is standard to all Saltus projects.

Jeff is a native of Utah, born and raised in Utah County. He designed his first building while attending Timpview High School in Provo, as he designed the house his parents currently live in, and that solidified his passion and dream to become an architect and create meaningful places and buildings.
He received his professional masters degree in Architecture and a graduate certificate in Ecological Design from the University of Oregon and spent several years working at architecture firms in the Northwest before returning to Utah in 2014. He also has an A.S. degree in Architectural Drafting from Utah Valley University, and a bachelors degree in Urban Planning from Brigham Young University.
Jeff is driven to create places of meaning and purpose, that are in harmony with the natural environment, and that enhance the human experience. He is a member of the American Institute of Architects as well as the Urban Land Institute.
Co-Founder / Principal
Aaron Inouye was born in Tacoma, Washington, grew up in Orem, Utah and graduated from the University of Utah where he studied Architecture and Business. He has traveled throughout the United States, Canada, Israel, and Europe and has been active in the local Historic Preservation Committee. Aaron is a member of the national and local home builder's associations as well as Build Green Utah.
Aaron has a passion for unique, artistic, and meaningful design. A successful project starts with listening to every client's needs and desires and incorporating them into a project that is harmonious with its surroundings, accommodates the client's needs and dreams, and exhibits unique charm and timeless character.
Aaron is also the founder and owner of Inouye Design, a highly successful and well-known custom residential design firm with projects completed in Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon, Washington, and Utah.
Senior Project Manager
ASSOCIATE AIA, LEED AP, CSI, CDT
Dan has over thirty years of experience in the planning, design, and coordination of diverse architectural projects from minor remodels to major large-scale projects. He has extensive knowledge of all disciplines and phases of a construction project from pre-design services through construction administration, including specification writing. Dan’s knowledge and diversity in building types and construction is a critical component in his work as a Project Manager and Specification Writer.
Rhett was born and raised in Spanish Fork, Utah where he then went on to get his Bachelor of Science with majors in Architecture and Arts & Letters from Portland State University.
Rhett has extensive experience working on both multifamily housing projects as well as educational projects. He excels in his role as Project Manager as he also has years of hands on experience working on job sights and overseeing construction.
Sean is a 3D Illustrator and architectural designer. He graduated with an A.S. in Drafting from Utah Valley University and earned his B.S. in Architecture from The University of Utah. Years of experience have lent Sean's portfolio a wealth of beautiful architectural models and creative designs. He is a problem solver with an eye for innovative design.
Kyle first decided to pursue a career in the AEC industry at the age of five, and grew up sketching house plans on graph paper. After taking drafting and home construction classes in high school, he received an Associate’s Degree in Drafting Technology from UVU. He has worked in the AEC industry since 2005 in various disciplines, including steel detailing, structural engineering, and architecture. Through his career, he has discovered an aptitude for architectural software, and now specializes in content development and training for Revit.
Chloe has an Associates in Drafting Technology and BIM/REVIT expertise along with a Certificate of Proficiency in Architecture Design. Chloe has 3 years of architectural design experience. Additional skills include: 5+ years of drafting experience, Revit, AutoCad, SketchUp, InDesign, Color board and Materials Selections, Shop Drawings, Consultant coordination, Design Support.
Brad was born and raised in San Diego, and is member of the military. He has worked in the architecture and engineering industry for the past 3+ years dealing with innovative technology and drafting for a wide range of clientele. His skills working in design and various programs such as Revit and Solidworks has made Brad a hardworking and dedicated team member with an eye for detail.
